Ernest "Dude" E. McAbee

Ernest "Dude" McAbee, husband of the late Martha McAbee, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the age of 95. 

Born on November 12, 1929, in Anderson, SC. Dude was the youngest of thirteen children. He served honorably as a proud Army veteran. He owned and operated a fuel oil business and service station in Six Mile along with various other endeavors. He retired as an engineer/EMT with the Clemson Fire Department. When he wasn't working, Dude enjoyed spending his time gardening, farming, maintaining his yard, and "shootin' the bull" with the Six Mile Grumpy Old Men. He also cherished his time with his family fishing, camping, and taking trips to the beach. As a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church he enjoyed helping with church cookouts. 

Dude is survived by his son Eddie McAbee (Colleen) of Six Mile; his daughter Mandy McAbee of Six Mile; his grandchildren Keavy McAbee (Lee Marchbanks), Alex McAbee, and Sam Murrow (Jolie Smith); his great grandchildren Judah Marchbanks, Evelyn Marchbanks, and Skylar Murrow; and three sisters - in - law Edna E. McAbee, Mercedes McAbee, and Wilhelmina Alexander. 

In addition to his beloved wife Martha, of nearly 60 years, he was preceded in death by twelve siblings. 

A visitation will be held Tuesday March 4, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 2:45PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church- 3041 Six Mile Highway, Central, SC 29630.

A funeral service will be held following the visitation on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church- 3041 Six Mile Highway, Central, SC 29630 or Pickens County Meals on Wheels.
