Ernest Arden "Ernie" Mitchell, 78, of Lewistown, OH, passed away peacefully, Monday night, July 28, 2025, at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, OH while surrounded by his four children.

Ernest was born on October 27, 1946, in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of the late Bonnie Allen Mitchell and Don Mitchell.

Ernie is survived by his four children, Holly (Rick) Powers, Danielle Bunke, Ginger (Ron) Kimmel, and Wesley (Heather) Mitchell, and seven grandchildren, Emma and Colin Powers, Freddy Bunke, Rachel and Rece Kimmel, Jackson and Ansel Mitchell.

Ernie was a 1965 graduate of Indian Lake High School. He attended Christ United Methodist Church in Lakeview. He spent his working career in sales, first at Yeasel Incorporated and then with Thermofil Incorporated out of Brighton, MI, where he retired. Ernie was a lifelong resident of Indian Lake. He was an entertainer from his childhood, when he started entertaining in Resorts and performed as an accomplished drummer and singer until just a few years ago. Ernie was an "Honorary Stinger", as he played drums for many of Judy Grubbs' Stinger groups. He also recorded music with Judy and Bill Hempker. He was a fixture with the ILHS Alumni Marching Band until a couple of years ago. Ernie enjoyed sailing, boating, gardening, cooking, and studying Indian Lake history.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 6th from 5:30 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Ernie's memory to The Stinger Vocal Music Scholarship c/o Logan County Education Foundation, 2280 St Rt 540, House #3, Bellefontaine, OH 43311, www.lcedfd.org.
