Ernest Everman, 91, of Niles, died peacefully October 17, 2025 in the comfort of his family’s presence.
His life began July 21, 1934 in Niles, born to Otto and Helen Everman. Ernie was a hard -working man. He worked for Berrien County Road Commission for forty- seven years. Ernie was a stubborn and impatient man who loved to tinker. He could often be found outside, gardening, mowing the lawn or just being out in the sun. Ernie was a coffee man; Black not the fancy stuff, He sipped on a cup all day long. He was funny and caring. Everyone in the neighborhood called him “Grandpa”. He was very accepting and cared about people and animals. He was a private person who preferred to avoid the spotlight. Most of all, Ernie loved his family and they were his priority.
Ernie will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by one son, William E. (Sharon) Everman of Niles; one favorite grandson, Ryan W. (Analia) Everman of Niles; one great grandson, Caden M. Whitney of Big Rapids and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madline Carol Everman in 2010, three sisters and four brothers.
The family will observe a private remembrance. Ernie will be laid to rest in Mission Hills cemetery.
