Ernest Fogleman was born August 11, 1945, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, to John and Azalea "Azlie" (Carroll) Fogleman. He departed this life on Friday, August 15, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years and 4 days. A lifelong resident of Locust Grove, Ernie graduated with the Locust Grove High School Class of 1963. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, including a tour in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.
While cruising town in the fall of 1965, Ernie met the love of his life, Sharron Jackson. The two began dating in January 1966 and were married on November 10, 1967, in Heavener, Oklahoma. Together they built a life filled with love and family, raising three children: Judy, Kerry, and David. Ernie worked for a time as a brick mason before beginning a 31-year career with National Gypsum, retiring in 2008. He grew up attending the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church and lived his life deeply devoted to his family.
A man of many talents and passions, Ernie enjoyed fishing and hunting, making several pheasant hunting trips to Kansas. He loved water skiing and taught not only his three children but also his sister-in-law as well as others how to ski. He was an avid gardener, known far and wide for his vegetables, and enjoyed sharing them with anyone who stopped by. He was also a skilled baseball player, playing into his mid-50s, and was remembered as a strong hitter and talented pitcher in softball. He loved family cookouts, where he often showcased his skills as a great cook. He loved sports, cheering enthusiastically for the OU Sooners.
Above all, Ernie cherished his grandchildren. Family was always at the center of his life, and he delighted in spending time with those he loved most. Though he didn't travel often, he enjoyed vacationing, with a recent trip to Yellowstone National Park and Montana being especially memorable. His love and compassion will be cherished by his family. He will be missed dearly.
