Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, February 14, 2025, Mr. Ernest Odom, 84, loving husband of 59 years to the late Martha H. Odom.
Family members include his daughter, Angela Welch (Earl); son, Ashley Odom (Shawn); granddaughters: Lauren Welch Birch (Andrew), Hannah Welch, Ashton Drake (John), Andersen Odom and Addisen Odom; and by his loving Boston Terrier, Windy, who he spoiled rotten.
Ernest worked 25 years for Liberty National Life Insurance Company. He served 6 months in the Army at Ft. Jackson and 6 years in the Reserves. He loved his church, First Baptist Church of Augusta, where he served as a deacon, usher, and member of the Cason Bruker Sunday School Class and various committees. Ernest loved to travel especially to Hilton Head Island, attend the Augusta Green Jackets and Atlanta Braves baseball games, The Masters, and UGA Football.
The funeral service will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Mr. Craig Baynum officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andrew Birch, John Drake, John Hardy, and Steve Hardy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Cason Bruker Sunday School Class.
