Ernest Olson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Feb. 14, 2026.
Ernest F. Olson, a cherished father, brother, veteran, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at his home in Hermitage, Missouri, on February 8, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on September 26, 1946, in Holden, Massachusetts, to Ernest F. Olson Sr. and Betty Jo Stuckey, who preceded him in death, Ernest lived a life defined by dedication, service, and deep love for his family and community.

Ernest proudly served in the United States Air Force, enlisting on November 2, 1965. Over the course of his distinguished career, he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring on January 5, 1996. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he carried that same spirit of service into every aspect of his life.

He found great joy in classic cars and shared that passion through his involvement with car clubs in Hermitage, Bolivar, and Springfield. Whether at shows or community events, Ernie's enthusiasm and easy smile brought people together.

A devoted Freemason and Shriner, Ernest actively supported and often led charitable efforts, always ready to lend a helping hand. His work with Forgotten Vets and the VFW reflected his enduring commitment to fellow veterans and to serving both his country and community with pride.

He is survived by his two daughters, Deann Duran and Dana Senik-Puckett, and their families, who carry forward his legacy of resilience, compassion, and strength. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Olson, and his sister, Janet Olson-Woosley, and their families, who will remember him as a kindhearted sibling and steady guiding presence in their lives.

A Celebration of Life for Ernest F. Olson will be held on February 18, 2026, at the Pomme de Terre Shrine Club in Hermitage, Missouri, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., including Masonic Rites. Interment at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery will take place at a later date, where he will receive full military honors in recognition of his faithful service to our nation.

Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Ernie are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Ernest's memory, honoring his lifelong dedication to helping others.

Ernest's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
