We met Ernie and Jean when they retired and moved from Greenville to Cypress Landing. We became friends through golf, playing in the same group of regulars for many years, and also with our common interest in boats. We had similar trawler style boats and shared many cruises up and down the Intracoastal Waterway. This pic was taken at one of our stops on the ICW. We were sad to lose him as a neighbor but glad he the opportunity to be with family in his last years, and that he stayed in touch with many irreverent memes he emailed regularly.

Ernie was a good friend and accomplished Dean of the School of Business at East Carolina University. I served with him as a member of the Business Advisory Council for some 12 years. He was a good man and I was proud to help raise enough money to name a classroom after him when he retired in 2004. Some people you just never forget and Ernie was one of them. RIP, Sir.

Dean Ernie Uhr led the ECU College of Business with his engineering background from VA Tech and a desire to maintain the second longest accredited business college in NC. We have just gotten the obit today in late Feb. 2025! His leadership was important for the ECU College of Business and I was grateful for the many things I learned from him.
