Ernestine McCray

Mother Ernestine Wallace McCray, 83, of Screven, Ga. passed away on December 01, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 27, 1939 to the late, Roger Lee and Rebecca Young Wallace. She was educated in the public school system of Effingham County, Ga. and was a faithful member of Bethlehem Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. in Jesup, Ga., under the leadership of Pastor George E. Floyd where she served as one of the Church Mothers. She enjoyed praising the Lord, cooking, shopping and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ernestine was the wife of the late, Harry Lee McCray, Sr. to whom she was united in holy matrimony for (62) years before his passing on March 12, 2022.
She was the last surviving child of all of her siblings and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Lee McCray, Sr.; three sisters, Teresa Rawls, Dorothy Dixon and Beatrice Vail, as well as her four brothers, Greg, Gary, Horace and Robert Lee Wallace.
Mother McCray is survived by her loving children, Christine Crestwell of Indianapolis, IN, Katherine Wilkins of Screven, Ga. and Shirley (Joseph) Lawson of Indianapolis, IN and Harry Lee McCray, Jr. of San Martino Di Lupari, Italy; her grandchildren, Kendrick McCray, Shameka (Christopher) Upshaw, Taffaney Wilkins, Krystal Wilkins, Courtney (Jonathan) Ashley, Taneesha (John III) Williams, Shakeia (Michael) Royster, Antoine (Kiarra) Ellis, Joseph Lawson III, Dominique (Tiara) Clarke, Tonya McCray, Harry (Martina) McCray III, Soraya McCray; great grandchildren, Shamiyah McCray, Kayjasia McCray, Kenya McCray, Clyniah Baker, Cayden Baker, Alexia Wilcox, Taylor Wilcox, Ethan Ashley, Cori Ashley, John Williams IV, Jayce Williams, Terriona McCray, Trinity McCray, Tristen Jones, Evan McCray, Khloe McCray, Tommaso McCray, Zoe McCray, Tamya Clarke, Jeremiah Clarke, Alexza Clarke, Addisyn Clarke, Kingston Clarke, Justin Bacon, Jr., Kalani Lawson, Zakiyah Upshaw, Kaila Upshaw and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 @ 3:00 p.m. at New Bethel Life Changing Ministries, 521 Brown Street, Screven, Ga. 31560.
Interment in Screven Cemetery, Screven, Ga.
Repast will be held at First African Baptist Church Social Hall, Screven, Ga.
