Ernesto D. Salinas, 83, of Abernathy, TX, passes away on Monday, October 2, 2023. He was born on November 6, 1939, in Yorktown, TX, to Cristel Salinas and Margarita Deleon.
Ernesto married Santos on September 24, 1959, in Belton, TX. They were married for 60 years, before she passed away on September 27, 2019.
He retired from agriculture and landscaping. His passion was being outdoors and gardening. He enjoyed praising and worshipping at church. He adored his family and spending time with them. He loved to be the center of attention. He would act like a 20yr old. His laughter was contagious! And his grandkids thought he was the coolest grandpa ever. He was a giving and thoughtful dad, and he would put others needs before his own.
Ernesto is survived by Juanita Garcia (Adam), Guadalupe Salinas (Tina), Racel Trevino, Martha Moreno (Tony), Ernesto Jr., Anita Jones (Stephen), Leticia Trevino, Daniel Salinas, Orlando Salinas (Willie), and David Salinas; sister Maria Galvan of Mission TX, and Frank Salinas of Muleshoe, TX. He was blessed with 22 grandkids, 26 great grandkids, and 2 great, great grandkids.
He is preceded by his wife, Santos Salinas; his parents, Cristel Salinas Sr. and Margarita DeLeon; brothers, Cristel Jr., Ysrrael Salinas, Guadalupe Salinas, and 4 sisters, Blanche, Ernestina, margarita, and Lili.
A time of visitation will be held Monday, October 9, 2023, at Freedom Baptist Church, 302 40th St, Lubbock, TX, from 11AM-7PM, with a Prayer Service beginning at 5PM.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at The Venue on Broadway at 10AM, with burial to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Guadalupe Salinas Jr., EJ Salinas, Michael Trevino, Justin Jones, A.J. Trevino, Jeremiah Salinas, Jacob Salinas, and Alex Salinas.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Noah Salinas, Joshua Jones, Isaiah Salinas, David Salinas Jr., Alex Zamora, and Nathaniel Salinas.
