Rosa Rodriguez, a cherished mother and beloved Guely, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, in Lubbock at the age of 70. She was born February 13, 1956, in Mission, Texas, to Baltazar and Gloria Cardenas, one of eleven children. A proud graduate of Seagraves High School and Texas Tech University, Rosa devoted her professional career as an elementary school teacher in Lamesa, a role she embraced until her retirement. Rosa was a woman of remarkable creativity and artistic flair. Her talents extended beyond the classroom into the realm of cooking and baking, where she manifested an exquisite attention to detail and an independent, strong-willed nature.
With a vibrant spirit and generous heart, she touched countless lives, leaving behind memories that will continue to nourish and comfort those who knew and loved her. In every recipe passed down and every meal shared in her memory, her love will live on.
She is survived by her children, Isaac Rodriguez and wife Annie, and Sonia Cantu and husband Jesus, all of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Joaquin Cantu and Jemma Rodriguez; nine siblings: Martha Guerra, Francisco Cardenas-Salas, Elsa (Roberto) Diaz, Norma (Diego) Cardenas Cedillo, Julio (Viki) Cardenas, Cesilia (Vidal) Sanchez, Patricia (Domingo) Lopez, Gabriela (Kenny) Sanchez, and Miguel Cardenas; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Baltazar Cardenas, Jr.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm, Monday, March 16, 2026 at Venue on Broadway with a prayer service starting at 6:00 pm. Services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Venue on Broadway with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
