Esli Marie Lowden, a cherished beacon of light with a spirit as vibrant as the world around her, took her final breath on October 15, 2025, in the comfort of her home, with her loved ones by her side. Born on January 28, 2016, to David Lowden, who affectionately called her his piglet, and Felicia Floyd. Esli was a remarkable soul who, despite her tender years, left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
From her first days, it was clear that Esli was not just another little girl. At Madison Heights Elementary School, she flourished as a very smart student, her brilliance shining brightly among her peers. With a personality that was a beautiful mix of sass and blunt honesty, she approached life with a refreshing authenticity that drew people in. Esli was not only selfless, independent and thoughtful but also displayed an extraordinary bravery in the face of life’s challenges. Her strength became particularly evident during her battle with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare cancer that she met with an inspiring resilience. Those who cared for her were often taken aback by her profound understanding of her illness. Her doctors were consistently impressed by her knowledge regarding her condition, a testament to her intelligence and tenacity.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, savoring every moment spent enjoying her beloved Chick-fil-A nuggets and indulging in those iconic blue raspberry freezies. Her enthusiastic spirit thrived during trips to Ulta Beauty and Sephora, where the thrill of shopping intertwined with her love for all things colorful and vibrant.
Esli had a very large loving family. Those remaining to treasure her memory are her Meme and Papa, Tim and Mary Price who took her in as an infant and raised and loved her as their very own. Two sisters, Kirsten and Amelia Lowden; one brother, Russell Floyd who referred to her as his “sister-cousin”; grandparents, Kelly “Kelly-boo” and Tommy “Papa Tommy” Floyd, Richard Price, Debbie Goodbar “Granny Goodbar”, and Nana Jackie Watts; great grandparents, Ralph and Judy Garrett; devoted aunts and uncles, Ronald Price, David and LeKeisha Floyd, Jennifer and Brett Colbertson, Brittany and Eric Lowden, Courtney and Evan Dodson, Nikki Brevo, and Donna Floyd; special cousins, Haily and Holly Floyd and Haley Price; close friends, Ava, Tobi, and Kloe; along with countless other family members and friends, all who loved her dearly.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the doctors and nurses at UVA Medical Center, especially Dr. Brian Belyea who developed a special and personal connection with Esli. Also, the loving, caring and compassionate nurses of Gentle Shepherd Hospice.
As we gather to remember and celebrate Esli's life, friends and family will come together for visitation on October 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory in Madison Heights.
Esli Marie Lowden will forever remain in our hearts, a poignant reminder of love, courage, and laughter in the face of adversity. Though her journey was far too brief, her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her and those who hear her story long into the future.
