Estella (Stella) Martinez

Estella ("Stella") Viola Martinez, 77, passed away on January 31, 2026, in Albuquerque, NM. Born on April 17, 1948, in Taos, NM, her family later settled in Albuquerque, where she grew up, and helped raise her six younger siblings.

After she graduated from Valley High School, she was a hairdresser in El Paso and later moved back to Albuquerque, where she worked alongside her parents in her father's barbershop. She returned to Taos in the early 80s, where she enjoyed camping and sewing, making beautiful blankets, and even wedding dresses for family. She came back to Albuquerque and after raising her daughter Michelle, she enjoyed a career as an administrative assistant until she retired.

Stella was an incredible cook, often filling her home with delicious aromas. She also loved music of every genre. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially her granddaughters, Mia and Lena. She created countless cherished memories with them.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Hernandez; son-in-law, Jon Hernandez; granddaughters, Mia and Lena; her siblings, Armando, David, Bernadette, and Kristina as well as nieces and nephews, Santos, Amanda, Alyssa, Rebecca, David Jr. and J.J.

Stella was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jose Guillermo Trujillo and Mary Millie Gonzales; and brothers, Guillermo, Jr. Trujillo and Santiago Trujillo.

Stella's warmth, love, and humor will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her family will carry her spirit in their hearts forever.

Services will be held on February 20th, 2026, at Queen of Heavan Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Rosary at 9:30am, Mass at 10:00am. Reception to follow at the Parish Hall.
