Estelle Luverne (Henderson) Covington was born March 4, 1941, in Luverne, Alabama, to the late Tommie and Jimmie Lee (Bimbo) Henderson. She was the 3rd of seven children.

She grew up in the city of Duquesne. The late Pastor Charles Torrey of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church baptized her. She was a member of the Torrey Gospel Choir, where she performed throughout the Valley. She graduated from Duquesne Senior High School in 1959. After graduating, she went to cosmetology School in Pittsburgh. She was a beautician in Pennsylvania.

She then met Donald Smith and had her first child, daughter, Kazaya Donell Henderson. She relocated to Columbus, Ohio, and there she met the love of her life, Henry Preston Covington Sr., and was united in marriage in 1966. To this union, three children were born: Crystal Monique Covington (deceased), Henry Preston Covington Jr. (Angel), and Zjarmaine Kanishia Covington-Paredes (Sammy). Estelle and her husband were owners of three dry cleaners in Cincinnati, Ohio. She later moved to Marietta, GA. In the 80s, and after the death of her husband, Estelle and her children moved back to Duquesne, where she was a pillar in the community. She was a daughter of the Duquesne and McKeesport Elks Lodges. Estelle loved her family, people, bingo, card games, going on bus trips with her friends, and just traveling anywhere that gave her joy. She had an infectious personality and was always the life of the party. She said what she meant and meant what she said. She was very opinionated as she told you what she meant, with her hands on her hips.

Estelle knew and loved the Lord. For the last five years, Estelle has been fellowshipping at Fresh Word Ministries in Duquesne, under the leadership of Pastor Trennon Neal and First Lady Lisa Neal. Estelle loved the mimes and fellowshipping with the people there.

Estelle departed this life peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie and Jimmie Lee Henderson, husband, Henry Preston Covington, Sr., her siblings, Elizabeth (Sister) Tucker, Willie Lee (Bubba) Henderson, Brunetta Gray, Doretta Tennon, and niece, Patricia Tucker.

Estelle leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Kazaya Henderson, Henry Preston Covington Jr. (Angel), Zjarmaine Paredes (Sammy); ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; silbings, sister, Inez Lewis, brother, James Henderson, aunt, Ruby Henderson Johnson; uncles, Edward Henderson, Eddie Lee Henderson, Jesse Henderson; host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, many special friends and the whole village.
