Ester Hill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Troy B. Smith Professional Services on Sep. 26, 2024.
Ester Lee Hill affectionately called "Sissy" by family and friends, was born in Houston, Texas on August 11, 1941, the second of three children born to Odell Neal and Minnie Lee Williams Neal.
At an early age she accepted Christ attending Fourth Missionary Baptist Church as a child and was a very active member. During her formative years, she attended school in the Houston Independent School System and graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1959 where she was a member of the Ryan Cadets. After graduation, she attended Texas Southern University where she received her bachelor's and master's degree in education. While attending the university she married her high school sweetheart and soulmate, Edward D. Hill on December 23, 1960. Their union was blessed with one son, Craig Anthony. They were beloved and devoted parents and instilled in Craig strong values that have served him well throughout his life. After marriage she and Edward became members of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where they were active members. She and her family later joined Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church where she was a devout member until her transition.
Ester dedicated her entire career to elementary education where she was employed with the Houston Independent School District for 32 years. Upon retirement she enjoyed reading, music and a avid collector of gadgets. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. Later in life she was so excited to become a great grandmother to Kennedy Causey and watching her blossom.
On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Ester received a call from God, who informed her that her heavenly home was finished, and she could move in immediately. Ester will be dearly missed by her family, friends and acquaintances. She will especially be missed by her husband, son, grandchildren, sister and other family members.
Ester leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband, Edward Hill, one son, Craig A. Hill (LaTonna) of Houston, TX, two grandchildren, Jordan Causey (Philip) of Houston, TX, Jarrett Hill (Jordan) of Denver, CO, and one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Causey, her sister, Emma McDougald and nieces, nephews and special cousins and friends.
Ester was preceded in death by her parents, Odell and Minnie Lee Neal and brother, O.C. Neal.
Psalms 62:1-2 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.

Mrs. Hill, I will always remember her even as I was a young child she was always a very beautiful, kind and sweet lady. She possessed a very gentle spirit. An excellent example of a very classy lady with such poise and such a warm welcoming demeanor. You will always be remembered as such. Rest in Heaven Queen.
