Esther Louise Duga Harper was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, on July 22, 1923, to Samuel Duga and Nelle (Skaggs) Duga. She passed away in Georgetown, Texas, on June 5, 2025.
She is preceded in death by parents Samuel Duga and Nelle (Skaggs) Duga; sister Hulda (Duga) Rogers; and husband Cash Russell Harper. She is survived by daughters Suzanne Harper and Julia Pearson (Joel); son Dwight Harper (Dede); grandchildren Jessie Portillo (Michael); Joel Pearson III; Cash Harper; great-grandson Pearson Portillo; and many nieces and nephews.
Esther grew up in Bellaire, Ohio, graduated high school in 1941, and attended Ohio Wesleyan University and The Ohio State University. She married Cash Russell Harper on March 22, 1953. They marked their 65th wedding anniversary in 2018.
They moved to Texas in 1964, where Esther worked as a medical technologist until she retired. She belonged to the United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
The family will receive visitors at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 26 at the Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas, with a funeral service at 2:00 pm and reception at 3:00 pm.
