Esther Jane Rowe Kovacs, age 96, passed away on April 17, 2025. She was born to the late Elton and Anna May on October 1, 1928, in Lyons, New York. Esther grew up in Walworth, New York, and graduated from Walworth High School. She worked at Mathews Trucking in Ontario, New York, where she met Joseph Rowe. In 1955, a job opportunity brought them to Akron. After Joseph passed away, she enjoyed traveling with a widow and widower group. In 1991, she met Daniel Kovacs, and they resided in Arkansas until he passed away in 2010. Esther then moved back to Ohio to be with family. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, knitting, and reading. Esther volunteered with her children's schools and various church activities over the years, including making Bibles printed in braille.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Rowe and Daniel Kovacs, and her son-in-law, Charles Wright. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Wright, and David (Kaye) Rowe; grandchildren, Christopher (Nikole) Wright, Amy (Ray) Yost, and Allison (Addison) Wellens; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Daniel's children, Todd Kovacs, Mike (Lynn) Kovacs, and Nancy (David) Leonard and their families.
The family would like to thank the staff of Danbury Senior Living in Tallmadge and Remembrance Hospice for their loving care to Esther.
Private family services will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mogadore Fire Fighters Association, 135 S. Cleveland Ave. Mogadore, Ohio 44260 or the Walworth Historical Society, 2257 Academy St. Walworth, NY 14568.
