Esther Jane Morelock, 94, of Newport, died Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Cold Spring Transitional Care Center in Newport. She was born June 7, 1931, in Hawkins County, Tennesse, community of Beech Creek, to the late Grover C. and Emma P. Morelock. Member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Survived by her son, Charles D. Morelock and the late Lynda Morelock; daughter Wanda Arey (Steven); one sister, Annie Morelock Head and one brother, Jack (Clara) Morelock; five grandchildren, Kyle (Kylie) Arey; Ryan (Kelley) Arey; James (Sarah) Morelock; Tyler and Sadie Morelock; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was married to James Carl Morelock for 48 years, who preceded her in death in 2007. The following siblings also preceded her in death: Beulah, Woodrow, Gilbert, Hester and Grover. Esther left home at 27 years old to move to Rockford, Illinois and raise a family. She was a devoted wife and mother, delighting and loving her family for generations. She moved at 66 years old to Kentucky to be with family until her passing. As it should be, those that remain will continue to tell her story.
There will be a graveside service 9 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
