It is with deep love and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, who was the heart and foundation of our family.
Esther Zavala-Vazquez age 90 of Chuckey TN passed away on Tuesday February 11, 2026 at her home in Nezahualcoyotl Mexico. Esther was a devoted Catholic. She was born in Buena Vista, Cerano, Guanajuato Mexico. In the early 1980s she migrated to the USA and became a Naturalized US citizen.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she dedicated her life to her family. She was married to her beloved husband for 62 years, sharing a lifetime of love, partnership, and unwavering commitment until his passing. Together they built a home filled with faith, strength, laughter, and enduring values.
Though she did not have the opportunity to pursue formal academic education, she possessed a wisdom that could not be taught in any classroom. She was a woman of resilience, integrity, and tireless work ethic. Through her actions, she taught her children the true meaning of responsibility, kindness, perseverance, and unconditional love. She led by example, and her life was her greatest lesson.
She found joy in life's simple and beautiful moments - tending to her garden, preparing meals that gathered everyone around the table, and crocheting with loving hands. Her cooking nourished not only our bodies but our spirits, and her garden reflected the care and patience she gave so freely to others.
She leaves behind nine living children who carry forward her strength, values, and deep love of family. Her legacy lives on in them, in her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and in all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Vazquez. her mother Ventura Vazquez-Calvillo and father Pedro Zavala Rangel. Children, Jose Luis, Irma and Carmen.

She is survived by her children; Mayela, Artemio (Noemi Rodriguez), Elia (Felipe Diaz), Javier all of Mexico. Irma (Lucio Aguilera), Esther (Edmundo Martinez), Jose (Leticia Aguilera), Roberto (Adriana Enciso) and Alma (Gustavo Galvan) all of Chuckey. Grandchildren; Karina (Emmanuel), Jose Luis, Alejandro, Minerva (Ricardo), Diana (Ivan), Esther, Diana, Diego, Felipe (Leticia) Metzeri, Jesus Javier (Berenice) Mayte, Ivan (Carla), Claudia (Daniel) Raquel (Aben), Doridey, Josimar (Lupita), Carlos (Delylah), Jose Rafael, Gloria, Diego (Bella), Fernando, Montse, Andrea ( Laureano) Cristina, Roberto Jr. (Jess), Anthony, Vanessa, Alexis (Manuel), Sarah and Alan. Great Grandchildren; Emmanuel, Marisol, Valeria, Jonathan, Allison, Regina, Abigail, Gael. Eduardo, Victoria, Matias, Mia, Luna, Dulce, Saul, Sofia, Carlos Jr, Ismael, Isa, Ari, Theo y Layla. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, her generous heart, and the way she made everyone feel at home. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate a life well lived - a life rooted in love, sacrifice, and devotion.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 20, 5-8 at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. The Mass will be held on Saturday February 21 at 11 am at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Gardens.
