Ethel Virginia Brent Burnside, 97, of Danville died January 1, 2023, at Landmark of Danville. Ethel was born December 25, 1925, in Lincoln County to the late Lilburn and Jennie Smith Brent. She was a 1943 graduate of Hustonville High School, worked at Palm Beach Company as a seamstress, and was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Ethel taught the Philathea Sunday School Class from 1950-2020. Ethel served as a Pastor's wife throughout the years. She is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Earl Burnside, and her sisters Ruby Naylor, Catherine Robinson, and Louise Short.
Survivors include her nieces Elaine Carstensen of Danville, and Jeanette (Donald) Putteet of Middleburg, Florida, and several great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Mathis officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service. The burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association.
