Elder Ethel B. Driessen
Sunrise July 5, 1945 - Sunset October 22, 2025
Elder Ethel Driessen, an incredible woman of faith, has left an incredible mark on the hearts and lives of those who knew her. Ethel was born on July 5, 1945, in St. Helena Island, South Carolina to the late Frank & Julia Brown, and she was the eighth out of nine children. Raised in a godly home, Ethel accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior at a very early age.
On June 13, 1964, Ethel married the love of her life and was a devoted wife to the late Willie Nathaniel Driessen Sr.
Ethel attended the public school system and was educated in Beaufort County, SC. In 1967, Ethel graduated from Pitney Bowes School of Business and was a committee member for Training and Employment. Ethel pursued various endeavors in her life including customer service positions at Oriel Corporation, Comp-U-Card and Shaw Mudge & Company. She also worked as a Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator for Union Trust Company. In 2008, Ethel received her Medical Assisting diploma from Porter and Chester Institute.
In her ministry, she was a member of Miracle Faith, under the leadership of late Pastor Bobby Davis and Co-Pastor Chris Davis. Ethel was ordained as an Elder at United Prayer Deliverance Center, under the leadership of the late Bishop Nathaniel P. Hayes Sr. and Evangelist Judy Hayes. Elder Driessen collaborated with Dr. Annie Barksdale in "Women in Ministry." She held the position of Pastor of Communications and Outreach at Shekinah Glory Global Ministries, under the leadership of Apostle Alan B. Graves. Ethel also served as an Elder at Kingdom Life Ministries, under the leadership of Prophet Andre Cook.
Ethel peacefully entered her enteral rest on October 22, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Nathaniel Driessen Sr, her parents Frank and Juila Brown, her sisters Inez Brown, Evelyn Brown, her brothers, Clarence Washington, Sr., Charles Brown., Sr., Edward "Bossie" Brown, and George Brown.
Left to celebrate her remarkable legacy is her son Willie Driessen, Jr., daughter, Demetria (Thomas Sr.) Bland. Three grandchildren, Thomas (Cami) Bland II. Timothy (A'Taiya) Bland, Destiny (Dawson) Gunter; eight great-grandchildren; Thomas Bland III, Theodore Bland, Charli Bland, Titus Bland, Kingston Bland, Kyla Bland, Khamarii Bland and Dawson DaVian Gunter Jr. Two sisters, Marie Sumpter and Prophet Josie (Robert II) Kendall; very special cousins Helen Spencer and Thomas Brown.
Also to celebrate her legacy are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, spiritual sons and daughters, friends and a community of believers who were touched by her ministry. Her legacy of faith, love and devotion to God will continue to impact lives for years to come.
Ethel will always be remembered for her well-known phrases, "THE DEVIL IS A LIAR" and "THE BLOOD OF JESUS."
Though we mourn the loss of our beloved Ethel, we take comfort in knowing that Ethel Driessen is now in the presence of the Lord she served so faithfully. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her ministry continue to inspire us to boldly share the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
Her love for her family was evident in everything she did. Ethel led by example, teaching others the importance of faith, prayer and service.
Funeral services will be on Friday, November 14, 2025 Wilson Memorial Church of God In Christ 164 Richmond Hill Ave Stamford, CT 06902
