Ethel "Babe" Eckstein

Ethel "Babe" Eckstein, 91, of Peoria, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday December, 20, 2025.
Babe was born February 12, 1934 in Peoria, a daughter to Frank and Elizabeth (Hermann) Roth. On February 9, 1957 she married Ronald Eckstein at St. Bonafice and together they cherished 68 years.
A remarkable cook, Babe expressed her love through crafting meals that brought family and friends together. She dedicated her life to being a stay-at-home mother, nurturing her children with endless patience, compassion, and support. Babe's home was a haven filled with laughter, love, and the delightful aroma of her home-cooked meals.
In her leisure time, Babe enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle, sharing delightful evenings filled with friendship and friendly competition. She maintained close relationships with her high school friends that were deeply rooted and always treasured.
A devout Catholic, Babe exemplified faith and devotion, praying the rosary every day. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence. Babe will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband Ronald of Peoria; four children: Michael (Tory) Eckstein of Mapleton, Patrick Eckstein of Bartonville, Christina Eckstein of Peoria and Thomas (Amy) Eckstein of Germantown Hills; four grandchildren: Mallory (Carlos) Brown, Morgan Eckstein, Benjamin Eckstein and Samuel Eckstein; as well as one great grandson Carson Brown.
Babe was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Lloyd Roth and one sister Roberta Jenkins.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kickapoo on Friday, December 26, 2025 from 9:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Father Jim Pankiewicz will officiate, and graveside services will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
Preferred memorials in Babe's memory may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Kickapoo.
