Ethel Louise Gouge Crawford, age 81, of Buladean, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 5th, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Brown and Lonnie Vance Gouge, and the wife of the late Ralph Edward Crawford. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Crawford Valls, and two brothers: Roger and Gene Gouge.
Ethel attended Middle District Freewill Baptist Church for many years. She loved to worship God. Ethel was a loving and devoted wife of 62 years. She had a quiet and gentle spirit. Ethel was a great listener who loved her family and friends. Throughout the years, Ethel had various jobs outside her home. She was a dedicated and diligent employee.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Tomack (Jeff) of Jacksonville, FL; son-in-law, David Valls of Bakersville; sisters: Margaret Troutman (Brad) of Mechanicsville, VA, and Mary Hall (Tommy) of Bakersville; brother, James Gouge (Calla) of Bakersville; sisters-in-law: Judy Gouge and Diane Gouge, both of Bakersville; two grandchildren: DJ Valls (Becky) and Anthony Valls; two great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Trey Valls, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 11th at Middle District Freewill Baptist Church in Buladean with pastors Blaine Whitson and Mike Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at Gouge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church prior to the services.
