Services will be held Friday, January 9, 2026, 12 noon at Reed's Chapel AME Church for Mrs. Ethel L. Hughey, 84, of Youngstown, who entered eternal life, December 26, 2025 surrounded by family.

Mrs. Hughey, affectionately, known as "Ubbie", was born January 23, 1941 in Wheeling, WV, daughter of Curtis and Catherine Bigsby Sr. She spent her life caring for her family. a loyal member of Reed's Chapel AME for 60 years, worked with the nurses guild, President of the Gatewood- Watson Missionary Society, class leader, and treasurer. She volunteered for many years at Mary Haddow Elementary school, Vice-President of the community block watch while also attending Youngstown State University. serving as the family historian.

She leave three children to cherish her memory and honor the Hughey legacy,Tina M. Hughey of Youngstown, Stephanie (Johnny) Barnett of Youngstown, Otto (Tracey) Hughey Jr. of Virginia Beach; a sister Janette Polk, of California; brother Keith (Charise) Jones of Youngstown; Randy Jones of Atlanta, GA six grandchildren; 15 great grand children; three godchildren Rochelle Carter of Liberty; Tiffany and Reuben Gordon Jr of Youngstown; KemPearson who was like a son to her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Otto Hughey Sr, whom she adored for 54 years, three sisters Marguerite Bigsby-Owens; Catherine Bigsby and Anna Watkins, one brother Curtis Bigsby Jr and one grandson Aaron Michael Page Sr.

Friends may call Friday from 11-12:00pm at the church. Arrangements entrusted to LE Black,Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.

The family of Mrs. Hughey would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, calls, visits and all acts of kindness.
