Ethel Lois Musser nee Fisher, 93, of Mifflinburg, PA a beloved mother and committed wife and partner of the late William Thomas Musser, M.D. of 67 years passed peacefully with her loving family by her side on November 25, 2025 at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.
Born in Chillisquaque, PA on February 4, 1932 Ethel was the daughter of the late Ross and Esther Fisher and sister to the late Elizabeth Byrd and Donald Fisher. The family subsequently relocated to Hartleton, PA. where her father ran a grocery/hardware store. Ethel was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School where she was known for her cheerleading skills, engaging personality and love of science. Later she graduated with honors as a medical technician from Franklin Arts and Sciences in Philadelphia, PA.
Ethel met her life partner Bill. They were happily married in Hartleton on June 28, 1953. They were inseparable through life. She moved with Bill from Philadelphia to Williamsport, PA as he completed his medical degree and residency. Ethel relocated to Rolla, MO as Bill completed his military commitment. They eventually settled in Mifflinburg, PA where they became active members of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Along the way Ethel and Bill built and cultivated a strong, loving family of four boys. Together they crossed the country visiting national parks, memorials and picturesque venues. She enjoyed spending summer vacations in South Carolina watching the boys play volleyball, softball and football on the beach. Ethel and Bill were also adventurous visiting Australia multiple times as well as England, Scotland and New Zealand. Their most rewarding excursion was a cruise on the Queen Mary II which led to tours of the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy, France.
Ethel was a warm and caring mother devoted to her family’s wellbeing. Her most cherished moments were holiday gatherings when she would singlehandedly prepare a massive feast which drew the entire family together for merriment and fond memories. She enjoyed the banter and humor shared during these engagements and was never reluctant to join in the conversation. She always had a twinkle in her eye and a mischievous smile.
Ethel is survived by her sons: Scott and wife Heidi of Franklin, MA; Steve and wife Pam of Clackamas, OR; Tom and wife Jeanette of Mifflinburg, PA and Bob and wife Karen also of Mifflinburg. Her grandchildren, whom she adored include Leigh, Bradley, Lauren, Brian, Mark, Kelly, Claire, Taylor, Ryan, Nora and Carly. She was blessed as well with 11 great-grandchildren.
Ethel was a shining light to all who knew her. She was a steadfast friend, devoted mother, family matriarch and a delightful addition to any gathering. She will be missed.
Memorial services will be held at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mifflinburg on Saturday, December 6, visitation at 1:00 pm followed by the service at 2:00 pm.
