Ethel Rotstein Obituary

December 15, 1924 - March 4, 2023
The firstborn child of Sarah Shiell Trebow and Samuel R Trebow, Ethel Rotstein spent her 98 years showing loving kindness to everyone she encountered. A proud Los Angeles native, Ethel attended Belmont High School, and in 1947 became one of the few female graduates of U.C.L.A. In 1950, she married Max Rotstein, who passed away in 2000. Several years later, they moved to a home in Culver City. After raising a family, she took great pride in working for many years as an aide in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
For her entire life, Ethel retained a keen interest in politics, books, and local sports teams. During her later years, she would make incisive observations about how current-day political turmoil mirrored events that she'd witnessed during the Great Depression, the Second World War, and the 1950s. She was active for many years in the local B'nai B'rith, serving as a board member and officer.
Ethel is survived by her children, Robert, Steven, and Marianne; her grandchildren, Dustin, Zachary, Samantha, James, and Sascha; and her great-grandchildren, Hudson, Aria, Laurel, and Rowyn.
Services will take place on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 2 pm, at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 W Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
