The rhythm of the universe changed on the afternoon of Saturday, July 16, 2022, as one of the biggest hearts known to mankind stopped beating. Ethel Elizabeth "Sue" (Strunk) Terrell, age 76, of Martinsville, passed away peacefully at 3:43 P.M. at IU Health Morgan Hospital in Martinsville. She was the daughter of Benjamin Otis and Elsie Lee Pearl (Malone) Strunk. She was born on a cold February day on the 20th day of the month, in the year of our Lord 1946. She had seven siblings and grew up in the Spencer area where she met and married the love of her life Frederick "Fred" L. Terrell on October 9, 1962, and he was still her hero today. The couple have been married nearly sixty years and had two children of their own, and from 1993-1995 fostered 32 children in Morgan County, in which all were a blessing. She was a 1964 graduate of Spencer High School. Sue began her Christian walk as a Sunday School Clerk at Old Union Laymon Separate Baptist Church and then a song leader in the 1960's. She taught Sunday School at Highland Creek Baptist Church at times from 1960 to 1992. She founded a Girl Scout Chapter for local children and a 4-H Club in the 1960's. She volunteered at Habitat for Humanity and the Senior Service Center. Sue had a seamstress shop for both, business and charity from the 1960"s through the 1990's. She sold Wheatonware and worked at Newberry""s Diner in Martinsville. She worked at Nice-Pak Products as Industrial and Machine Mechanic in 1976. She began work at Essex, later named United Technologies then Harman Motive, in various positions throughout 18 years, retiring as Plant Engineering Coordinator. She was known as "Sue" globally. She served as the fire department auxiliary secretary for Greg Township in Morgan County during a portion of the 1960's. In 1994, she studied maintenance prevention and inventory controls at Madison Wisconsin College. Her last college certification was Natural Health Consultation. She was awarded the Who's Who of new medical professionals, Cambridge New York High Honor Degree in 2010. Sue enjoyed being a seamstress, Bingo, Monopoly, Scrabble, Domino"s, puzzles, word search puzzles, gardening, wildflowers, cooking, quilting, and most importantly, spending time with her family. Her favorite comfort companions were Liz, her nursing home visiting dog that was a show winner Boston Terrier, her favorite yellow tiger cat Solomon, and her Alabaster gray cat, Miss Lucy. She had a unique talent in finding four leaf clovers. Sue and Fred are well known by friends, family and neighbors for extending their hand to everyone they could. Sue was a devout woman of God, her faith being an example to many. She was a member of the Horizon Christian Fellowship Church of Morgan County. She is survived by her loving husband, Frederick "Fred" Terrell of Martinsville; her children, Rev. Shelly Anne (Robert) Zook of Amo and William "Bill" Terrell of Martinsville; three grandchildren, Kevin Kindle and James Barber, both of Martinsville, and Elizabeth (Devlin) Greene; one great-grandson, Johnathan of Wabash; her sister, Helen (David) Adkins of Spencer; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and six siblings, Lucy, Linda, Tom, James, Kathy and Tricia. Funeral service will be held at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, Rev. Jeff Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery in Spencer. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 A.M. until the time of service.
