Eugene Blackburn, born on September 14, 1949, in Kentucky, passed away at Pikeville Medical Center on December 28, 2025, at the age of 76. He was a cherished husband, father, and brother, whose impact on his family and community will be long remembered. Eugene was a long time, faithful member of Grace Baptist Church, Shelbiana, KY.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Blackburn, who stood by his side through the many chapters of their life together. His legacy continues through his children: Jamie Blackburn and Jeremy (Amanda) Blackburn, as well as his daughter, Alison (Trent) Robinson. Eugene's devotion to his family was evident in every interaction, and he took great pride in watching his children grow and thrive. Eugene leaves four grandchildren, Dylan Blackburn, Ethan Blackburn, Claire Robinson, and Olivia Hall, to cherish memories of him. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda (Mose) Thacker, who shared many memories and experiences with him over the years.
Eugene's family bonds extended to his deceased relatives, including his parents, Clyde and Mavis Blackburn, and his siblings, Betty Carroll, Roger Blackburn, Eldon Blackburn, and David "Peanut" Blackburn. Their shared history and experiences shaped the man he became.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church, located at 160 Grace Trail, Pikeville, KY 41501. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location.
Eugene Blackburn will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends, whose lives he touched with kindness, laughter, and unwavering support. His memory will continue to inspire all those who knew him.
