Eugene Anthony Boyle, 83, of Wadsworth, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025. He was born in Waukegan, Illinois, on August 23, 1942, the son of Fred and Madge (McBride) Boyle (both deceased).
He was the loving brother of Daniel (deceased), Mary (deceased), Brigid (deceased) and John (deceased), and is survived by his wife, Joanne Boyle; daughter Kerry (Matt) Marcinkus (Kyle & Sarah Ward(Great Granddaughter Madison Ward), Nick Marcinkus, Jake Marcinkus, Jadeyn Marcinkus); son Kevin Boyle (Kelsi Boyle, Kory Boyle); son Ryan (Aubrey) Boyle (Seamus Boyle and Ashling Boyle); and sister Marge Buckner. He also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews, who will forever remember his humor, generosity, and warmth.
Born with a steadfast work ethic and a love of life's simple joys, Gene dedicated 34 years of his career as a proud member of Carpenters Local 250, where he built not just structures, but lifelong friendships and a legacy of craftsmanship.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army's 3rd Infantry Division, stationed in Germany, where he developed a deep appreciation for discipline, precision, and camaraderie that carried throughout his life.
Gene's greatest joys came from time spent in his garage - whether working on his cars, fixing anything that needed repair, or preparing for another run down the drag strip at Union Grove, Wisconsin, where he raced into his 80s. His passion for mechanics and motion was matched only by his enthusiasm for gun shows, swap meets, and the satisfaction of a day's hard work.
Above all, Gene cherished his family. He was devoted to the love of his life, Joanne, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, loyalty, and love that extended to their children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter - the pride of his life.
Visitation will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 15000 W. Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth, Illinois, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. CST.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Interment with Military Honors will take place at Ascension Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1920 Buckley Rd., Libertyville, Illinois, at 12:30 p.m.
Those who knew Gene will remember his kind heart, his unstoppable energy, his stories from the shop and the track, and his quiet way of showing love through the things he built - for his family, his friends, and his community.
