BRYSON, Mr. Eugene Altonio - Age 63, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Bryson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, March 1, 2024, from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
Eugene Altonio Bryson Jr. was born on October 29, 1960 at Sydenham Hospital in the Borough of Manhattan, New York City, and was the first son of Eugene and Barnledo Bryson. He passed away on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024.
Tony often spoke of all the adventures and experiences he and his cousins had in New York like "jumping rooftops", riding the subways, and watching all-day movies at the Apollo Theater. He moved to Flint, MI in 1971 and attended several schools including Pierson and Dolan Elementary, and Northwestern and Northern High School. He later attained his diploma in Ft. Wayne, IN. In 1978 his cousin Alphonso introduced him to who would become his wife and the mother of his children.
Tony was a talented artist and while living in Cranbrook Apartments in Beecher, MI he painted a beautiful mural on the entire ceiling using only a picture he saw in a book.
Tony was good at playing the guitar, he loved fishing, bowling, and playing chess and cards. He was an excellent cook in the kitchen and a "Master" on the grill. Tony was a "neighborhood Dad" and took an interest in getting to know his sons' friends, always talking, feeding, and joking with them all. He worked many different jobs, but his favorite was at a printing company where he ran machines that produced various books including pocket-sized day planners.
Tony was an animal lover and had many dogs over the years: Fanny, 3 different Hitlers, Cleo, Shep, Red, Havoc, Midnight, Junior, Shadow, Pretty, and Smokey.
Tony leaves to cherish his memory: sons Joseph Bryson and Anthony Cooper, daughter-in-law Maria Cooper, mother Barnledo Bryson, brother Reginald Bryson, grandson Damien Cooper, granddaughters Endia Cooper, Jaeci Garrison, Isabella Hilliard, sisters Taj Bryson, Kem Scott, Melita Cooper, Lynn Robinson, and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, friends, and former spouse Maureen Bryson.
Tony was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ralph and Eleanor Bryson, maternal grandparents Alfonso and Barnledo Baker, father Eugene Altonio Bryson Sr., son Eugene Altonio Cooper, sister-in-law Kay Cooper and special cousins Donell Green, John "Jo Jo" Pickens, and Eric Len Pickens Sr.
