With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Eugene "Gene" W. Burns, 73, of West Burlington Township, PA, at the Bradford Hills Manor surrounded by his loving wife, Gloria, and his family on Monday, July 14, 2025.

He was born on February 20, 1952, in Bentley Creek, PA, the son of the late Thomas L. and Ruth G. (Baker) Burns.

Gene attended SRU School, and retired from PennDOT with the Bridge Crew. He owned a Construction Business for many years prior to his employment with PennDOT. Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, and woodworking. He also enjoyed going to the flea markets.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Ruthie and Robert Cooper, brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Peggy Burns, brothers, Ed Winnie and Carl Burns, and brother-in-law Doug Bauman.

Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria J. (Nichols) Burns, son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Julee Burns, daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mark Soper, daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Jim Ketter, son, Roger Wood, Jr. (Suzanne), daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Calvin Griffin, grandchildren, Aaron, Cody, Brooke, Gage, Garrett, Blaire, Blaze, Josh, Sarah, Emma, and Oakley, great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Cylas, Blakleigh, Presley, Marcus, Bryce, and Zayne. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Doug Bauman, sister, Elva Little, brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Barb Burns, and Bill and Pam Burns, sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Fran Stethers, sister-in-law Janice Burns, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. The family is being cared for by the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
