Eugene W. Butler

AUBURN/LEICESTER: Dr. Eugene W. Butler,82, of Auburn and formerly of Paxton and Leicester, passed away Tuesday, June 24th surrounded by his family. Eugene was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Judith A. (Brosky) Butler in 2018. He was also predeceased by his parents Paul L. Butler and Dorothy W. Butler as well as his bother Paul L. Butler III (Terry). He was a Professor of Psychology at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester prior to his retirement. Gene leaves his six children; Kimberley Butler Paquette and her husband Chris of Rutland and Lisa (Butler) Fagan and her husband Dennis of Auburn with whom he lived for more than 6 years. Christopher Butler and his wife Carolyn of Rutland, Johnathan Butler of Holden, Timothy Butler and his wife Lizaida of Leicester and Mark Butler and his wife Melissa of Buffalo, NY, His greatest joys in life were his family including his wife, 6 children, 10 grandchildren (Zachary, Sarah, Emilia, Andrew, Matthew, Nicholas, Ryan, Victoria, Alexa, and Alexandria) and 4 great- grandchildren (Tessa, Melora, Alessia and Colson). He enjoyed fishing (especially on Moosehead Lake), telling jokes and his life-long friends Stanley, John, and most recently his kind and caring roommate, Maurice.
Eugene was born in Leominster, and later graduated from UMass, Amherst, and Nova University with his Ed.D. He was also a licensed Psychologist.
Private funeral services and burial alongside his wife in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Life Care Center, especially those who went out of their way to provide quality care and empathy for residents with dementia. Their kindness and commitment to his quality of life will be forever remembered.
