Eugene C. “Gene” Chelski, 80, of Creston and formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster after a nine-month illness.
Gene was born on June 4, 1945, in Mansfield to George Clarence and Susanna Barbara (Kanz) Chelski and graduated from Madison High School. He retired from Step 2 in Perrysville after 18 years and had made his home in Creston since 2016 having previously lived in Wooster and Mansfield. Gene enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and watching Western Shows.
Surviving is his wife, Beverly (Davis Uhler) Chelski who he married on Nov. 29, 1997; his daughter and grandchildren, Beth Holmes and her 3 children, Ashley and husband Tom, Austin and Andrew; son John Chelski; step-daughter, Tammy and husband Jim Lockwood and their 3 children, Nick, Colton and Kayla and her husband John and great-grandchildren, Blake and Ridge; step daughter-in-law, Lisa Uhler; brother, Jim and his wife Trudy Chelski and sisters, Ruth Brown and Nancy Miles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Rose Chelski, brother, Edward Chelski, infant brother, Carl Chelski, step-son, Jerry Uhler and son-in-law, Greg Holmes.
At Gene’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
