Eugene J. "Gene" Dzialo

Avon - Eugene "Gene" J. Dzialo, 78, of Avon, beloved husband of 49 years to Patricia (Patterson) Dzialo, passed away after a brief illness Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024. Born May 15, 1946, in Norwich, son of the late Adam A. and Helen (Waidalowski) Dzialo.

Gene was raised in Norwich, graduating from Norwich Technical High School in 1964. Gene continued his education at Norwich Technical Community College before joining the United States Air Force in 1966. Gene served at bases in the U.S. and as an electronic technician servicing radar scopes on the F105 in Thailand, before being discharged in 1970. After being discharged, Gene was employed with United Technologies Research Center as an electronics technician working in several branches of the company prior to his retirement in 2006.

Gene was an active member of the VFW of Avon, Post #3272, often volunteering for activities and events. He enjoyed building models, reviewing local history, cars and researching many of these topics on his computer. Gene also enjoyed UConn women's basketball, never missing a game.

Gene is survived by his beloved wife, married Dec. 21, 1974, Patricia Dzialo of Avon; brother Richard and wife Rochelle of Newent; brother-in-law Rick and wife Gina of Short Hills, N.J.; sister-in-law Paula Ryan of Greenfield, Mass.; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and so many special friends. He was predeceased by both parents; and a brother, Robert Dzialo.

His family would like to receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, followed by a VFW Honors and a Funeral Service at 3 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
