Eugene Farrell Obituary

Eugene "Geno" P. Farrell, 76, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 13, 1949, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Mildred M. and Franklin B. Farrell. Geno graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 1967 and soon after proudly joined the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he continued his lifelong commitment to service as a member of the Lower Paxton Township Police Department, where he served faithfully from 1973 until his retirement in 2004. During that time, he also worked as a security guard at the Colonial Park Mall, where his friendly and dependable nature was well known to many. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, 3125 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA, 17109. A visitation will take place from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M., followed by a memorial service beginning at 12:00 P.M. A committal service with full military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery following the service. Gene was a mentor and friend when I started with the LPPD in the late 70´s. He always had a smile on his face and a kind heart. Rest in peace brother.

On behalf on the Fraternal Order of Police Greater Harrisburg Lodge #78- I send our deepest condolences to the family of our Brother in Blue. Brother Farrell was a dedicated police officer and lodge member that was always present. A steadfast cornerstone of our organization, he will be missed for his laughter and caring heart. Our monthly meetings and get togethers will not be the same. "Rest in peace hero, knowing your years of service and sacrifice was not in vain and selfless dedication to honor and duty never forgotten."

Geno was a camping friend that we knew for many years. We enjoyed our trips to Rehobath Beach and Penn Avon campground. We shared many laughs and good times. He was a good guy that you could depend on. He will be missed.
