Eugene “Gene” Howard Buskirk, age 88, widower of Judy Tucker Buskirk, passed away after a courageous battle with ALS, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. Gene was born in Cando, North Dakota, on March 28, 1937, the son of the late Floyd Clifford and Genevieve Considine Buskirk. He worked as a Superintendent for Kentucky Utilities, where he retired after 35 years of service, and was a member of the Army Reserves. Gene enjoyed farming, tractors, and spending time with the Beef Cattle Association and the Jessamine County Antique Farm Machinery Association. Survivors include two daughters, Gina Black and her husband, Randy, and Rhonda Tackett and her husband, Norman, a son, Darrin Buskirk, and his wife Nicky, six grandchildren, Whitney (Dan) Matthias, Adam Rohr, Samantha (Andrew) Harmon, Nathan (Betsy Hackman) Buskirk, Emily Tackett, and Chad Tackett, four great-grandchildren, Pinnelopea Tackett, Rebecca Tackett, Piper Tackett, and Hazel Matthias. In addition to his wife, Judy, his parents, Floyd and Genevieve, he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Marie Olson, and her husband, Selmer, and a nephew, Randy Olson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Bro. Bill Bales officiating. The burial will follow in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at the funeral home. Bearers will be John Allender, David Cole, John Mattmiller, Grant McQueen, Mike Provence, and Phil Worsley. Maurice Edwards will serve as an honorary bearer. The family requests donations to the Jessamine County Antique Tractor Club at 776 East Maple Street, Nicholasville, Kentucky 40356.
