Eugene Anthony Gooch,74, or White Sulphur Springs went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 9, 2025 at his residence after battling cancer.
He was born October 13, 1950 in Union and was the son of the late Joe Rome and Blonzetta Pankey Gooch.
Eugene was a U. S. Army Veteran. He had been a waiter at the Greenbrier Hotel as well as a caddie on the Greenbrier golf courses. Eugene was a graduate of the last class at White Sulphur Springs High School where excelled in Basketball. His career has taken him to the state of Michigan, District of Columbia and back to White Sulphur Springs.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his son Hershall Godfrey, sister Bernice Stone and a nephew Thomas Gooch.
Surviving are his daughter Michelle Reynolds; sons in Michigan, Brian and Ron Johnson; long time close friend Odessa Godfrey; sister Dreama Culver; brothers Charles Gooch and Robert Gooch; grandchildren Kylee Godrey, Braylen Godfrey, Brandon Dooley and Andrew Toliver; nieces and nephews Angelina Gooch, Latoyia Shehan, Michael Stone, Wilbur Stone, Jr., Sharon Stone, Melba Stone, Tonette Stone, Charles Gooch, Jr., Edna Gooch, Roneea Gooch and Angela Gooch; great nieces and nephews Darian Gray, Leila Sifford, Dante Shehan, Jaedon Shehan, Dejah Gaines and LaNyiah Gaines and a host more relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Eugene will be at a later date at the New Vision Baptist Church.
