Eugene Herron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel - Bowling Green on Jan. 12, 2022.
Eugene Gayle Herron, Jr. age 65, passed away at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, on December 26, 2021. He was born to the late Eugene and Doris Carol (Whitehead) Herron on May 22, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marlina R. (Carpon) Herron; two sons, Anthony Herron and Adam Herron; and one granddaughter Layla Ann Marie Herron.
Eugene, a retired Technical Sergeant of the United States Air Force, dedicated 20 years of tactical aircraft maintenance on the F-16. His service included operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was stationed in Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, and Germany--receiving honors respectively.
He was a proud father and husband. He loved both of his sons. He considered his immediate family his greatest life achievement, and he treasured his 46 years of marriage to a Christian woman. He loved God and the Gospel, often praying in solitude. He was a fun-loving yet spiritual man. His other joys in life were fishing, camping, hunting, and being outdoors, which he often declared was a great source of peace for him. He loved music, especially American string music, and he could play the guitar. He was very sociable, and loved people. He was happiest in the company of family and friends, to whom he was most loyal.
He will be buried at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at Walnut Creek Marina & Campground during the mid-late Spring of 2022. Please contact his family at (270) 779-8177 or (502) 536-0928 for more details regarding his memorial service.
