Eugene H. Holtkamp

Eugene Henry Holtkamp, 78, of Montrose, IA, passed away unexpectedly at 10:33 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, IA. He was born on November 24, 1946 in Fort Madison, IA to Wilbur "Bill" & Veronica Hinker Holtkamp. He married Evelyn "Marie" McMeins on October 29, 1966 in Fort Madison, IA. He worked for the Clark Service Station in Fort Madison and was a boat mechanic at Dave's Marine in Fort Madison and later Bluff Harbor in Burlington. He enjoyed watching the races, NASCAR and westerns on T.V.
Gene is survived by: his wife: Marie Holtkamp of Montrose, IA; 1-son: Robert "Bob" Holtkamp of Montrose, IA; 1-daughter: Diane (Tim) Sugars of Montrose, IA; 2-grandchildren: Tyler (fiancé Hayley) Sugars of Fort Madison, IA & Abby Sugars of Montrose, IA; 2-great grandchildren: Torin & Theo Sugars; 1-brother: Don Holtkamp of West Point, IA; 3-sisters: Carol (Gene) Foehring of Fort Madison, IA, Mary (Keith) Shelman of Mt. Pleasant, IA & Joan (C.E.) McCarty of Edina, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy Holtkamp.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Montrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Montrose Fire Department.
