Eugene A.J. Hutter

Eugene A. J. Hutter (Scoopy), age 89, of Robinson Township, passed away on March 18th surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 24, 1935 in McKees Rocks, PA, the son of Adolph Joseph Hutter and Josephine Hutter (Tomasits)
Beloved husband of Mary Ann Hutter (Vancho). Loving father of Leslie (David) Guzman, Kurt (Beth) Hutter, Alison Hutter, Mark Hutter and Christopher (Kim). Cherished Grandfather of Elise, Ryan, Bridget, Noelle, Nolan, Alex, Joe, and Lizzy; great-grandfather of Thomas.
Loved by his sister Dorothy (the late Louis) Scalise and her six sons and their families. Brother-in-law of Libby (Pat) Catanzarite and family.
Scoop, as he was affectionately known, graduated from McKees Rocks High School in 1953. During this time he excelled in athletics as well as being a class officer. In his youth, he played hockey for the Junior Pittsburgh Hornets at the Duquesne Gardens under coach Baz Bastien. Throughout his life Scoop coached little league football as well as coaching the Montour/Sto-Rox hockey team during the 1970's
After time at Indiana State College, Eugene joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged. During his service he was stationed at the Newport NIKE Missile Battery in Monroe County Michigan.
He married his high-school sweetheart 62 years ago where they raised a loving family. He was a man of great character who enjoyed his family and his many friends. During his retirement he was an avid golfer & bowler, enjoyed going to the casino, loved his horse races, and going to Las Vegas. Scoopy was a good man.
Relatives and friends will be received Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 4-8 PM and Friday, March 28, 2025 from 2-8 PM at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Twp), PA 15108. Funeral prayer on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 9:15 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial in Archangel Gabriel Parish, St Mary, Help of Christians Church, 1011 Church Avenue, McKees Rocks, PA 15136.
