Eugene L. Maese, 93, passed away Sept. 6, 2024. He was born Nov. 15, 1930 in Spanish Colony of Greeley, CO to Paul and Fernanda (Lopez) Maese who precedes him in death along with loving wife, MaryLou Gomez Maese, and daughter, Mary Jean Solorzano; brothers, Paul Maese and Phillip Maese.
Eugene was a licensed contractor, where he was so proud of building 6 homes here in Pueblo. He retired from PAD in the optical department, then went on to work another 15 years at LeMasters Janitorial Supply.
Eugene was an avid Broncos and Rockies fan. In his younger years he loved to play baseball, enjoyed having all his grandkids over. Making sure he always had a snack or something to eat for them. He loved his siblings and family. Eugene cherished his home that he built for his family one block and board at a time. He was a very hard worker from a very young age working in the fields and picking beets alongside his family. He knew from a young age to be a provider and go getter. He was generous with gifts, always giving to family.
Eugene leaves to cherish; his children, Tom Solorzano, Larry Maese, Eddie (Donna) Maese, Frank (Michele) Maese; siblings, Epifania Mary Pifi Rodriguez, Marion Maese, Edwina Maldonado, Mary Campos, Joe Maese, Gloria (Norberto) Cunningham, Stella (Dick) Bernal; in-laws, Athlene Finn, Julian Gomez, Betty Jane (Ed) Martinez, and Alice Gomez; 9 grandchildren; Tommy Jr., Adam, Nate, Chris, Renae, Amanda, Frankie, Roman, Amelia; 18 great- grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and his four legged companion "tootsie" who he referred to as his little honey.
Funeral Mass, 2 p.m., Friday Sept 13, 2024, at the Cathedral of Sacred Heart. Internment, Roselawn Cemetery. Online condolences, www.angeluspueblo.com
