Eugene Anton Marty Jr, born October 18, 1952 to Eugene and Shirley Marty, died October 10th at home from a short battle with lung cancer.
Eugene was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and attended Robbinsdale High School. After graduation, he and his parents moved to Bemidji, Minnesota and purchased a resort called Joe's Lodge. Eugene was instrumental in the resorts' success. He was responsible for most all of the caretaking and entertainment. He was a laborer, fishing guide, fish cleaner and provided the live music at the lodge on his guitar which he loved so dearly, and he gave horse back rides of course with his cowboy hat and cowboy boots on! Believe it not he even waterskied with his cowboy hat on. Eugene was a hard, dedicated worker and was loved by all that knew him. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, riding on his tractor on his beloved 80 acres of land and spending time with his family. After thirty years of running the resort, they sold it and he began working for Sparky's construction.
He loved driving his dump truck and constructing things. After working at Sparky's for over 10 years, he retired and spent his time doing the things he loved to do.
He was very much loved and supported by 3 sisters, Dianne Meyer (Glenn), Wendi Fogelson (Steve) and Mary Pomerleau (John). He was also supported and loved by whom he liked to call his adopted son, Michael Tweed.
Eugene had many nieces and nephews that he loved and liked to teach them things whenever he could.
Eugene is survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years, Nancy and Stepdaughter, Tisha.
Per Eugene's wishes, there will be no service. At a later date his wishes will be honored by his friends and family.
We would like to thank Rod Will M.D. his nurse Jane and the fantastic team at the Joe Lueken Cancer Center.
Please remember Eugene fondly by showing kindness and love to your neighbors, friends and family and enjoy the outdoors!
