In Gene Miller's passing November 6th, 2025, the world grew a little dimmer, having lost a soul so generous in spirit and rich in humor. Born August 14, 1942, in Cincinnati Ohio, to Frank Charles Miller and Louise Long Miller, Gene was, quite simply, a friend to everyone he met. A cherished and guiding father to Shannon Marie Miller Garza (Ricardo Garza) and Kevin Eugene Miller (Elena Bernal Miller), there was simply nothing he would not do for them. He was a grandfather whose love knew no bounds for his four grandsons, Cullen Jackson Garza, Casen James Garza, Nathan Eugene Miller and Ben Mitchell Miller and his great grandson Rowan Eugene Miller. To him, family wasn't just about blood - it was about love. He welcomed Rick and Elena as his own and showed them the same kindness and guidance he gave his children.
He enjoyed trips to Kroger with his grandsons and was the most anticipated car in the school carline, always making the volunteers laugh. He said hello to everyone he passed in the store and he would talk to anyone that stood still long enough to listen. He was warm-hearted toward all - people and pups alike. One can almost see his old dogs bounding toward him, tails wagging with delight.
He was a man of many talents. With a camera in hand, he revealed the quiet poetry of everyday life. Through his eyes, ordinary moments became timeless - each photograph a testament to the way he saw light, love, and the world around him. His quit wit was as steady as his smile - subtle, clever, and always perfectly timed. He had a way of making others laugh without ever trying too hard.
With a calm and steady presence, he had a way of making others feel at ease - the kind of man people naturally turned to for guidance. Altruism wasn't just a word to him; it was a way of being. He gave his time, his energy, even his peace of mind, to help others find theirs.
He was a man of quiet faith and cheerful heart, whose Catholic devotion shaped his every day. Even in his final moments, his good-tempered spirit shone through - gentle, patient, and full of peace. He bore his suffering with humility, trusting in God's will and finding comfort in prayer and Our Lady. Those who stood by his bedside saw not fear, but a calm acceptance born of deep belief. He offered smiles instead of sorrow, gratitude instead of complaint. His rosary rested in his hands as he slipped away, a symbol of the steadfast faith that guided his life. In dying as he lived - kind, gracious, and serene - he bore witness to the hope of eternal life and the quiet joy of a soul at peace with God.
In lieu of flowers, please say his favorite prayer, the Rosary, for his soul. Or carry on his legacy by showing kindness to a stranger.
Gene Miller will not be forgotten - he was, in every sense, one of a kind.
