Eugene Mitchell

Eddie Eugene Mitchell, a wonderful friend to many, departed this world on January 16, 2022. Leaving on a Sunday was significant because the Lord's Day was Eugene's favorite time to worship his God and to connect with his devoted friends at Shreveport Community Church. Eugene's church was his priority all his life where he served faithfully.
Eugene will be sorely missed by his church family as well as Evangel Christian Academy where he served as equipment manager under Coach Dennis Dunn as well as assisted Coaches Romey Cucjen and Tim Hulett with baseball.
Eugene was a hard-working employee and spent 13 years at Target before he was forced to retire because of health issues. Eugene loved God, loved life, loved his family, and loved snow skiing. Although he lost the battle with Parkinson's disease, he will always be remembered as a winner. If one listens with one's heart, Eugene will be saying on game night, "Go Eagles!"
Eugene was born in Shreveport, LA on March 20, 1960. He is survived by his parents, Eddie Leroy Mitchell and Jeannine Mitchell; two sisters, Suzanne Cobb and Debbie McAnally and husband Gary; nephew Jade Cobb; great nephew Aiden Cobb; and two uncles, Tommy Bryant and Danny Bryant.
A celebration of Eugene's life will be held at Shreveport Community Church, Rodney Duron Chapel, on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 6 pm.
