A Celebration of Life for Courtney Glyn Matthews, 35, will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the service, food and refreshments will be provided at The Stable, located at 2195 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111.
Courtney Glyn Matthews was born to Randy and Tisha Jones Matthews on October 4, 1990, six weeks premature, carrying the fierce, determined fighting spirit of the Matthews family. From the very beginning, she showed strength far beyond her tiny frame.
She attended St. Mark’s Cathedral School and Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, where her artistic talent shined. Courtney could freehand anything; her creativity was effortless.
Courtney had a deep love for animals. It didn’t matter the size or kind; if she found a stray or heard about a dog needing a home, it became hers. She opened her heart to every creature that needed care.
She shared a bond with her father, Randy Matthews, like no other. He was her advocate through every season of life; steadfast, protective, and always ready to fight for her. Their father-daughter bond was true and powerful.
At 23, Courtney became a mother to her beloved son, Ryder James Randall Matthews. She loved him with every part of her soul. Though she struggled to understand the full weight of motherhood at a young age and faced battles with addiction, her love for Ryder never wavered. Her heart was enormous, tender, and always loving.
She loved her brother, Colton Thomas Matthews immensely. Loyalty came naturally to her, and she gave it freely to the people she loved.
Courtney and her mother, Tisha Jones Matthews, shared a deep and complicated love rooted in fierce devotion. Tisha loved Courtney with every inch of her body and soul. When Ryder came, Tisha did the hard work of shielding him, giving Courtney tough love when necessary, always out of love, always with hope for healing.
On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Courtney was taken from us suddenly after a fatal pedestrian accident in Fort Worth, Texas. Her passing has left a space that can never be filled, but her love and spirit remain with all who knew her.
Courtney was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents, Preston Thomas (“Pappaw”) and Mary Faith Statham (“Nannan”); her paternal grandfather, Stan Kondrat (“Ja-Ju”); and her maternal grandmother, Earline Sanders (“Mammaw”).
Left to cherish her memory are her father, Randy Matthews; her mother, Tisha Jones Matthews; her son, Ryder James Randall Matthews; and her brother, Colton Thomas Matthews. She also leaves behind her grandparents, Bennie Sanders; Glenn and Marty Jones; Glenda Kondrat; and Charles Matthews, Sr.; her aunt, Nicole Matthews; her aunt and uncle, Rose and Robbie Huddleston; her uncle and aunt, Allan and Carol Matthews; Angela Dixon; along with many cousins and special friends who loved her throughout her life.
Courtney loved deeply, cared deeply, and tried very deeply. Her compassion, loyalty, and gentle spirit touched everyone she met. Though her struggles were heavy, the love she gave was heavier still.
