Nassau- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene Mullins, affectionately known as Gene, who passed away on March 31, 2025, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. He was 66 years old. Gene was a warm, adventurous, and fun-loving man with a zest for life. His passion for cars, speed, and the great outdoors was evident in his love of driving fast and watching his favorite football team, the New England Patriots, his favorite baseball team the Milwaukee Brewers, and motorsports. He cherished the time spent with family and friends, always trying to stay connected despite his life.
Born on August 9, 1958, in Albany, NY. Eugene was the son of the late Terrance and Barbara (Grindrod) Mullins. Eugene is survived by his mother, Barbara Ann Mullins of Nassau, NY; his brother Jeffrey and sister-in-law Nancy Mullins of Fords, NJ; his girlfriend Darlene Gregory of Nassau, NY; his son Scott Mullins of Albany, NY; and his granddaughters. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends. Eugene was preceded in death by, Terrance (Father), Myrtle Belle Lyngard (Grandmother), William Mullins (Uncle), Elizabeth O'Rourke (Aunt), Edward O'Rourke Sr. (Uncle), Lorraine Backstrom (Aunt).
Born in Albany, NY, Gene grew up in Nassau and East Greenbush, NY. He attended Columbia High School 1974-1976, after which he obtained his GED. He worked for many years as a driver/filet worker at Two Cousin's Fish Market, Albany, NY as well as a CDL driver contracted by the United States Postal Service.
A funeral service for Gene will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau, NY 12123. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gene's family from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the funeral home. Following the services there we will be a celebration of life from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chandler Young VFW Post, 7 Lyons Lake Rd. Nassau, NY 12123.
Eugene will be cremated, and his cremains will be interred with his father at St. Mary's Cemetery, Nassau, NY. Gene's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to express their gratitude to doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Peter's Hospital for their attentive and compassionate care to Gene.
