Eugene Samuel "White Cloud" Olson Jr

Eugene Samuel Olson, Jr., ("Wa besh kaw ne quad, meaning White Cloud"), gracefully journeyed into the Spirit World on August 25, 2023. He was born on October 3, 1986 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Eugene drew strength from his roots as a proud member of the Fond du Lac Band of Chippewa.
Eugene's life was a testament to the beauty of his spirit. He was a friend to everyone he met. His easygoing nature, coupled with a warm smile, made him an approachable and charming presence. Eugene's genuine happiness was infectious, and his generous heart and steadfast willingness to assist others defined his character. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.
Eugene now rejoins those who have preceded him in death: his mother, Cheryl Thompson; sisters, Clarice Thompson and Andonis Levering; brother, Emmanuel Olson; and his maternal grandmother, Hazel Olson.
Eugene's devotion to his loved ones was unparalleled, and he found immense pride and joy in his role as a father. He is survived by his children, Zayden Olson and Ohliveya Olson-Martin, who were his greatest source of happiness. He also leaves behind a legacy cherished by his devoted father, Eugene Olson, Sr; sisters, Alesia Washington and Christine Thompson; brother, Niingoosis Olson; aunts, Jody, Sherri, and Sissy; Sylvia Thompson and her family, and his special friend, Sammi Keezer.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 28, 2023 from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Fond du Lac Band Urban Office (1308 East Franklin Avenue, Mpls, MN). From there, he will have an all-night wake at the Fond du Lac Cultural Center (1711 Big Lake Rd, Cloquet, MN). Funeral Service will follow on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Fond du Lac Cultural Center in Cloquet, MN. Interment to follow at the Old Holy Family Cemetery in Cloquet, MN.
Casket bearers are Niingoosis Olson, Romney Olson, Carlos Macedonio, Jaime Cruz, Joel Belgarde, and Brian Stillday, Jr. Assisting with the service will be Rick Defoe.
