Eugene Peter Ommen

Eugene Peter Ommen, age 88, of Lindstrom, MN, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Gene was born July 19, 1937, in Iona, MN, to Henry and Ella Ommen. He was a 1956 graduate of Astoria High School in Astoria, SD. He was united in marriage with his wife, Sylvia, on May 31, 1958, in Hendricks, MN, and they started their family soon after. They moved to Iowa, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Iowa in 1964. He then returned to Minnesota and worked as a pharmacist and buyer for the Target corporation. In 1979, Gene and Sylvia moved to Lindstrom, MN. With Sylvia's help, he ran Ommen Pharmacy in downtown Lindstrom from 1979 to 1982, and then Snyder Drug from 1982 to 1992.

Gene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, and his faith was incredibly important to him. He was a huge credit to his community and often volunteered at the local food shelf. He also loved fishing, hunting, and visiting his cabin in South Dakota.

Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years; parents; and granddaughter Nichole.

He is survived by his sons Dennis (Barbara), David (Kim), Daniel (Joy), and Douglas (Jean); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior.
