Eugene Edward Onusko

Eugene Edward Onusko, 96 of Connellsville passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday July 6, 2024. He was born on August 7, 1927, the son of the late Stephen and Anna Kostelnik Onusko. Gene was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. A graduate of California University of Pennsylvania. He was married to Hilda Maria Lewis for 67 years. He is retired from Westinghouse and was a member of St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. He was a past president of the Independent Slovak Citizens Club in Connellsville. He enjoyed bowling, golf and working on his model train display. He also owned and operated Gene's Radio and TV Service. Gene was totally devoted to his family and created years of wonderful memories. He will be very sadly missed but will live on forever in the hearts of his family who dearly loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hilda, and his sisters Theresa Pocratsky and Lucille Onusko. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Mayercheck; his daughter Joann Ruck and husband Bob, daughter Christina Onusko, and son Roger Onusko; eight grandchildren: Brian Ruck and wife Sabrina, Jason Ruck and wife Pauline, Patrick Greenwell and wife Laura, Michael Greenwell and wife Maria, Tyler Onusko and wife Sara, Caitlin Onusko, Evan Onusko and wife Nicole and Zach Onusko, and 10 great grandchildren: Brody and Ashley Ruck, Alexander and Sophia Ruck, Eugene Greenwell, Luca and Evelyn Greenwell, Collyns and Bexley Onusko and Ivy Onusko. The family wishes to thank the VA, Amedysis, Dr. Means, the nurses, and the caregivers, Becky, Tracy, Hope, Chris, Jessica, Jada and Sidney. We appreciated their sincere caring, compassion, respect and commitment given to Gene throughout the years. Family and friends will be received from 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC, 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where a Blessing Service will be held on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Connellsville VFW and American Legion Honor Guard. The family respectfully requests no flowers or plants.
