Robert Onusko

Bob Onusko, age 93, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away on May 5, 2023.
He was born in 1930 in Youngwood, PA, the son of Michael G. Onusko and Kathryn
Pavick Onusko. He graduated from Youngwood High School and is a veteran of the
Korean War. He also attended night school at Allegany Tech and graduated as an electronic
technician in 1958. He worked at Westinghouse / Powerex for 31 years and retired as a
supervisor of the production line and facility maintenance. After retiring, he moved to
Florida in 1989 and started working his dream job as a starter at Pine Lakes and Cypress
Knoll for 18 years.
Golf was his passion and he belonged to several leagues and helped to promote
tournaments and other events. He also wrote a golf column for 10 years called From Tee to
Green in the Mount Pleasant Journal weekly newspaper.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Hecla Slovak Sportsmans Club. He was a
member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Trauger, PA and then a member of St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Korona, FL.
Bob wrote and published an autobiography through Friesen Press in 2012 called "Life is a
Best Remark from God." He battled Parkinson's disease for over 15 years, but he was
blessed with love and assisted living care by his daughter Karen and her Family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Rita Nemeth.
He is survived by daughters Karen (Patrick) Moriarty, Marilyn (David) Strain and son Rob
(Lori) Onusko. And grandchildren Holly Radford, Matthew Marinelli, Patrick Moriarty,
Nicole Strain, and Robbie Onusko. And great-grandchildren Jasmine and Riley Radford.
