BALLSTON LAKE - Eugene Joseph Mark Salamon, age 80, died peacefully in his sleep, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Wesley Health Care Center, in Saratoga, N.Y. Eugene was born on October 25, 1945, in Bridgeport, Conn., and was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Povesko) Salamon.
Eugene attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Yale University, earning master's degrees from both. While attending RPI, he met his future wife, Mary, and the two were wed on August 3, 1968. He became a successful and esteemed Chemical Engineer with KAPL, in Niskayuna, N.Y., where he dedicated 40 years before retiring in 2008. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and being Papa to his grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by his beloved wife, Mary G. (Walsh) Salamon; his loving children, Katy (Keith) Lamoutte, Timothy (Ann) Salamon, and Amy (Richard) Waite; his adored grandchildren, Phoebe Lamoutte, Abigail Lamoutte, Erin Lamoutte, Emily Salamon, Meghan Salamon, Alaina Salamon, Dirk Salamon, Maura Waite, and Kelly Waite. In addition to his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his sisters, Eileen (Roland) Wilson and Judith Salamon.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., in the Chapel at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow, at 11:00 a.m., in the church sanctuary.
